Better prepared people.
Safer hyperbaric practice.

HBOTCertification.com provides National Hyperbaric Safety Association training.

We bring clinicians, technicians, and facility teams together to learn how hyperbaric science connects to the work they do every day. Our HCC and HCT courses combine structured instruction, practical chamber experience, and assessment.

Our focus is the healthcare setting: the person inside the chamber, the operator at the controls, and the team responsible for a safe environment.

Meet your educator

Clinical experience.
A commitment to education.

Alexander Borsand, MD, ABLM

Dr. Borsand brings the perspective of a hyperbaric educator, clinic owner, and patient. His own experience receiving HBOT after a traumatic crush injury helped shape his commitment to hyperbaric education.

As an NHSA trainer, owner of RX-O2 Hyperbaric Clinics, and president of the Arizona Hyperbaric Society, he helps teams connect the science of hyperbarics with the practical work of running a safer facility.

Get clear before you register

Your questions.
Practical answers.

Choosing a course is a professional decision. Here is what to know about training, certification, safety, tuition, and planning your visit.

Choosing your training

What is HBOTCertification.com’s relationship to NHSA?

HBOTCertification.com provides National Hyperbaric Safety Association training. This website helps you explore our courses, review upcoming dates, ask questions, and plan registration. NHSA is the training and certification organization identified in the course information.

What is the difference between HCC and HCT?

Hyperbaric Certified Clinician (HCC) emphasizes hyperbaric science and clinical principles. Hyperbaric Certified Technician (HCT) emphasizes chamber operation, patient preparation, observation, and operational safety. Both in-person courses include classroom and practical learning. Your professional background and intended responsibilities help determine the right path.

Am I eligible for the clinician course?

HCC is designed for clinicians and prescribers. Your state regulations, professional license, and intended responsibilities may affect your course choice. Confirm eligibility before registering. Training does not expand your legal scope of practice.

Can I attend if I am new to hyperbarics?

Contact us with your background and goals. We can help you understand the appropriate course and any prerequisites before you register. Foundational science is connected to practical examples throughout the training.

Is Clinic Safety Director training online?

Yes. Clinic Safety Director Online Training focuses on hyperbaric safety leadership, including fire prevention, facility responsibilities, team procedures, and emergency preparation. HCT provides hands-on technician training; CSD focuses on leading a clinic safety program.

Course experience and certification

How long is the in-person course?

The HCC and HCT courses are listed as 40-hour, four-day programs. Published class times are 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Arizona time. Review your registration instructions for the detailed schedule and attendance requirements.

Will I work with actual hyperbaric chambers?

Yes. The courses combine classroom learning with practical training involving monoplace and multiplace chambers. The focus is understanding equipment, preparation, observation, and safe operating practices.

Is there an examination?

Yes. The course includes quizzes and a certification examination. Ask our team for current assessment, attendance, passing-score, and retesting requirements before you register.

Are CME credits available?

Ask us about the current CME option for your selected course, including the credit provider, eligible professions, credit amount, and any additional fee. Confirm that the credit meets your professional requirements before purchasing.

Does course completion authorize me to practice medicine?

No. Training and certification do not confer medical licensure, expand your legal scope of practice, or replace the clinical oversight required for your role and location.

How do enrolled students access course materials?

Use the access instructions supplied after your registration is approved. If you cannot locate them, call 480-685-9022 or contact the training team through the form below.

Safety and facility training

Why is safety such a large part of the curriculum?

Hyperbaric work combines pressure, oxygen, equipment, and patient care responsibilities. The program emphasizes preparation, fire prevention, observation, communication, emergency readiness, and consistent operating routines.

Do you cover NFPA 99 and facility responsibilities?

The training addresses facility safety principles and NFPA 99 as a reference. Your facility must also consider the adopted code edition, manufacturer instructions, equipment, and requirements established by the applicable authorities. Course completion is not a facility inspection or compliance approval.

Are phones, tablets, or other personal electronics allowed inside the chamber?

Our training emphasizes a strict no-electronics-in-the-chamber policy. Phones, tablets, battery-powered accessories, and other personal electronics stay outside. Follow the training facility’s screening instructions and chamber-entry procedures.

Can you train our team at our own facility?

Yes. Dr. Borsand and his certified hyperbaric training team can come to your facility and provide the course using your own equipment. Submit an on-site inquiry with your location, team size, equipment, and preferred dates so we can discuss logistics and a quote.

Tuition, textbook, and travel

How much does training cost?

Listed tuition is $2,500 for HCC, $2,250 for HCT, and $1,000 for Clinic Safety Director Online Training. The NHSA Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Training Manual is included with every training. NHSA membership and board fees are separate from HCC and HCT tuition. Review the application for your registration total.

When does the $250 early-registration discount end?

Complete your HCC or HCT registration at least 30 calendar days before the first day of your selected course. The discount deadline is tied to the course date. For the November 5, 2026 course, the early-registration deadline is October 6, 2026.

Is the training manual included, and can I buy another copy?

The National Hyperbaric Safety Association’s Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Training Manual is included with every training. Additional copies can be purchased separately using the Amazon link in the featured manual section.

Where is the training held?

Our Scottsdale training takes place at RX-O2 Hyperbaric Clinic, 9035 E Pima Center Parkway, Suite 11, Scottsdale, Arizona. Confirm your course location in your registration details before arranging travel.

What if I need to change my course date?

Contact the training team as soon as your plans change. Ask for the cancellation, transfer, and refund terms that apply to your registration before paying. Availability and any applicable fees must be confirmed by the team.
